crop specific size

I want to use the crop tool but rather than endlessly fiddle with the mouse to get the exact crop size, I want to crop to the dimensions I have in mind (for example 700x800).  Other posters have posted about this, changing the canvas size default was suggested but in my mind, that is a crude workaround for something that should you should be able to do with the crop tool itself.

Sooo, assuming that SnagIt were to offer this, can you expound on exactly how you might expect something like this to work?

For example:
I'd like to right-click the crop guide overlay after it appears and see a list of standard sizes appear along with the ability to configure my own custom sizes:

And that would configure the "crop window" where I could then easily drag it around to surround only the area I want to keep.

Or some other workflow that may make better sense.

Cheers... Rick :)

Nothing but SnagIt was used for that mock up. ;)

Fusion 360 puts up two text boxes, one for x and one for y, and you enter the number you want into them.  However, I like Rick's suggestion better.  The way photoshop works it is good too (thanks Joe).  Bottom line either would be an improvement.

Rick,
Crop size is not an option on my install. Version 2019.1.3. If it is, I can't find it. Did you pull those menus from elsewhere?

Hi David

What I showed was nothing more than a concept. Something I put together to illustrate what my "mind's eye" saw IF TechSmith were to eventually build sizes into the tool.

Apologies for confusing you.

Cheers... Rick :)

I do know that capture will constrain to 1:1 aspect if I hold the shift key and 16:9 aspect (display format) if holding the Ctrl key while selecting. 4:3 aspect is the constrained selection box size if I hold the Ctrl and Shift key at the same time while selecting. It's not the same as a fixed size but at least you have some control over the aspect and can move the box around afterward to include what you want as you suggested earlier.
