Cursor Effects not working with .trec files (Camtasia 8.4)

Hey everyone!

First post on here, hope I don't come off too strong.

A couple of days ago, I updated to Camtasia 8.4.  I was working on a project and based on what I read, felt it would be safe to upgrade from the previous version.  I read all about the .trec files and it seemed like they would play well with existing .camrec files to create the final project.  This part is true and I was able to produce videos with these two types of files.

The problem with .trec files is the mouse cursor effects.  Previously, I would simply select all my screen recordings, click on the cursor effects, and save my settings.  However, .trec files simply won't take the cursor effects.  Interestingly, when I click on an individual .trec file and click on mouse cursor effects, the settings are selected as they should be (in this case, mouse size of 1.5 and left-click "rings" effect).  The mouse size effect works, but the left-click effects (or any other click) does not.

Any ideas regarding a possible solution?

Thanks in advance!

After some further testing, it seems like it has to do with the inability of .trec files to detect "soft clicks" on the trackpad.  I have my trackpad set up so that I can click by "tapping" the trackpad.  When I click, the effects take place.

With the previous version of Camtasia, a simple tap recorded as a click (as it should).  Is there any way to rectify this issue?  Any quick fix for now?  I can't go back and record all the .trec files just for mouse clicks!

Thank you

I am sorry you are having trouble!

Where did you purchase your software from?
And, what version are you using?

Also, can you describe what you are recording and what is not working correctly?
We would love to help but need some more information from you, please.
