Cursor missing from Fixed Region screenshots

I have set up a new profile in Snagit to capture a fixed region for taking screen shots of Excel 2010. I have included the option to show the cursor, but when I take a screenshot, the cursor is missing.
Can anyone explain this, and are there other things I can do to ensure I get the cursor?
I am using Snagit 11

Ok - this is an issue with Snagit 11. I have created profiles using old Snagit 9 and 10 within Snagit 11 trying to get a fixed region with cursor - no luck

Quit out of snagit 11 and started Snagit 10 - fixed region with cursors - works like a dream.

One for you Techsmith guys to sort out please as its annoying to have to run two versions of the software.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Does the box/selected option draw around the cursor icon in Snagit 11, like this:

Thanks,

Can't see my mouse cursor in video capture snagit 10. How to activate.
Creating my own instructional video for using analysis software.
Video comes out great except tray widows drop and menus open but would be better if the mouse is visible showing where to click.

Missing mouse cursor, Snagit 10 video capture.

Thanks Becky!

Ok, I reviewed Becky's answer and solves my missing mouse coursor.
see link http://screencast.com/t/fja2aXEsaco

The answer was obvious, the mouse coursor is activated by selecting the indicated option shown in the link above.

Actually, selecting the Cursor option does not work to capture the pointer when using the Fixed Region and a few other capture types--SnagIt 11 only captures the pointer when I select Region as the capture type.

So, has the status of this feature improved in the last 3 years? Today I've set up a couple of profiles as "Fixed Region" and clicked the cursor in all of them. All of them capture beautifully the preset regions, but the cursor is never there. I only get the cursor when doing normal dynamic bounding rectangle captures.
I'm using Snag-it 12 12.4.1.3036.

I got a notification of a reply by Joe Morgan (thanks!), but can't see it here. Anyway, what you suggest sadly isn't the problem, Joe: I have the cursor button pressed (blue) and all the profiles saved.

What I see in your screenshot is that you have your selection type as "All-in-one". That way it also captures for me... it just won't capture the cursor if I select "Fixed Region", regardless of the cursor button being pressed and the profile saved. :(

Hello there Miguel

Yeah, I was giving you the standard advice for cursor capture.

I don't ever use "Fixed Region"  captures myself and I realized my advice was off the cuff and untested.

I set up a profile and had the same problem as you. That's why I pulled my response.
Looking back on this thread it appears that the problem has been reported since SnagIt 11 was released.

I also have SnagIt 10 installed on my Windows 8.1 machine. I set up a fixed region capture and it captured my cursor without a hitch.

You could download and install SnagIt 10 as well. You can activate it using your SnagIt 12 activation key. You can download Version 10 directly from TechSmith.

You can download and install either a new or older version from this link. https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions

You can only run one version of SnagIt at the same time. If 10 is running and you try to open 12. You will get a pop up window telling you you must close version 10 before you can open version 12. And vise versa with 12.

Here's the nicest feature when making captures using either version.

The captures are all saved to the data store. So you can edit a version 10 capture in version12 if you wanted to. Same goes with version 12. If you make a few captures with one version they will all appear in the Library.

Sorry for the original misinformation.

It doesn't look like a fix is coming to me. SnagIt 11 was released in Feb. 2012.

Hope this helps, Regards, Joe
