cursor position stuck on Camtasia playback

I made 5 videos last night (5-10 minutes each). On two of the 5 a few minutes into the video the cursor position was stuck. The cursor icon changes properly, and where the cursor really was tool tips and mouse overs happen. I have never had this happen in 100 or more videos, but I did just move to windows 7 vs. XP.

Has anyone else seen this. There was no indication of any problems at the time of recording. When I re-record these I'll turn off the ability to edit cursor effects after recording. Hopefully this will avoid the issue.

Is there a way you could send us a link to one of the videos so we can see it in action? This may also be a good question for our tech support team. I've never personally seen this happen, but that doesn't mean it didn't! :)

Hi David,

Camtasia Studio 8 has just been released and has a brand new rendering engine. You may want to try it out and see if it fixes your issue.

The 30-day trial is fully functional and can be installed alongside existing versions of Camtasia Studio. You can learn more about the new version here:

I asked support and they said to record in .avi instead of .trec and that they are trying to fix that bug.

I'm on Camtasia version 8.4.3 (Build 1792) and had this happen on a 25-min long video.  All the actions occur on screen as though the cursor is moving, but the actual cursor is frozen in one place.  If I attempt to highlight the cursor, it highlights it at the frozen location and doesn't move.

Unfortunately, this means I'll have to redo my video.  <BIG frown>

Do I have to re-do the 2 hours recorded event? Or is there any solution?

Its happened to me too.  I've been using Camtasia for a year and currently on 8.6 on Win10.  Imported 3 *.trec files and only the second one shows this behaviour.  Imported that *.trec into a new project and no problem.  Did I accidently click on a feature I don't know about?  Is the project itself corrupt?  Your insights appreciated.

regards,

john
