Custom Controller

Hello!

I am using Camtasia 8, but have incorporated the newer player to fix the hotspot overlap bug. But now when I produce the SCORM, the custom controller I selected is replaced by the default one used with Screecast. This is normally not a huge deal... but unfortunately... I do exercise based training where students walk through a workflow by clicking hotspots. Some of these hotspots are covered by the default controller, so they can't click to continue!!! Very annoying.

I read another thread where someone suggested the following:

If you take a look at your output folder, you will find a css file called techsmith-smart-        player.min.css. Not sure if anyone has figured this out, but you can design any type of video player you need and make it work by placing the bg imagery(parts like the volume slider) into that folder, and have your css point to the images instead of its default instructions. It is a pain, and so much more difficult than just configuring from within Cam9. But it's possible.

This sounds great! I would love to put in the elbow grease to do this. Problem is.......... I am new to coding, and can't find any thing more detailed about how to do this! Can anyone help? I just want the small black controller used with Camtasia 8 - that should fit my needs. Don't need to reinvent the wheel with a entirely new controller!!

Planning on upgrading in the future, but I heard that custom controllers were removed from Camtasia 9 and I am assuming Camtasia 2018. Which is a bummer for me, because of the above problem. So I DEFINITELY want to know how I can get this on TechSmith's list of enhancements.

Thanks!

Hi Alicia,

We did consolidate down to a single control bar style for the TechSmith Smart Player starting with Camtasia 9.

I can understand your frustration. The bottom area of the player is unusable for hotspots and we do not indicate that at all in Camtasia or the TechSmith Smart Player. This wasn't a deliberate decision, so I agree we should work to improve this limitation.

Thank you for bring this up and I will work with our user experience team and see if we can improve this limitation.
