Or cut audio and not video.  I can't seem to cut just one or the other.  I am working on a project in Camtasia 3 for Mac.  I am doing some final editing.  I exported a screenshot of a frame.    I want to  record some new voice over.  I want to cut out the portion of selected video in the attached screenshot,  then move it it to the right, then insert the screenshot.  Then I want to cut the audio and move it to insert the voiceover.  the audio and video I want to cut aren't quite in sync. The mouse is moving at the point in the audio, where I want to insert the voiceover,  so Im grabbing a still from a few seconds before this.  The still image will be stretched to fill the gap.    The problem is if I select the video track and do a cut, I get both the audio and video cut out.  How can I select the video (or just the audio)?  I've run into this other times,

Do a RMB on the clip and Separate Audio and Video ... this will yield the audio and video on separate tracks.

I did that. In the screenshot I included, they're separate.  However,  I  just figured it out.  I have to move the markers to what I want cut, then select the track, then do the cut.  that will cut whichever track I selected.  If I select the track first, then drag the markers then do the cut, both tracks are cut. IMO, that's a bug.  It should only cut the selected track either way.

What you should do is Lock or Hide the tracks you don't want effected.

Hiding the track does just that. It won't show in the canvas or in your video and no editing can be done to it.

Make sure to Un-hide any tracks before you render your video or they won't be included.

Locking the track makes it so no editing or moving it on the timeline happens to it.
