Cutting out and expanding part of the screen (and then go back)?

In some of the Camtasia training videos they highlight a section of the UI by "cutting-it-out-and-expand" it to show it more clearly and at the same time dim the background (the remaining UI) unti they put that part of the UI "back" in its original place..

I would like to achieve something similar. Is this possible in Camtasia or do I have to build it  "manually" in some other tool?

Hi, yes you can do this in Camtasia. There is a video demonstrating the process, I'll try find the link or someone else might share it here.

In essence you create an image of the part of the screen you want to expand, (one option is to export the frame as an image and crop to required area) layer it on top and add a zoom/animation to that piece of media. Then add an effect to the remaining UI.

Sorry not to be able to explain in more detail - got to dash.

Thanks, Kind of what I expected. I just wanted to check that there wasn't any clever built-in animation that would allow you to do that without the "manual" work.

Cheers!

You're welcome. Not that I know of but others in the community may jump in.

There is a Scale in Behaviors which you can drag and drop onto the cropped media but you'd need to do some adjustments in Properties to make it work as you need it to.

Cheers,
