Datastore location for reinstalls

When you uninstall SnagIt you have the option to save all user data in case you want to reinstall.

And when you reinstall and point Snagit at your existing datastore, it refuses to use it and creates a new one instead, to which one could be excused for thinking WTF?

A simple prompt "Do you want to use the existing Datastore? Yes / No" would be useful, and save a lot of profanity being directed at my screen.

Edit:
I know I can fix the problem by doing a registry hack.  But that's the problem.  A routine reinstallation should not require a user to be hacking the registry - the installation process should handle it.

Sounds like a great idea. I voted for it.
You could have exported the Datastore before you uninstalled the program. Then imported it. Change it's location and  scream a little. There is that convoluted  avenue to  take. {:>)

In case anyone's interested, here's the registry hack
  1. Completely exit Snagit so it is not running in the background (the Editor too; anything related to Snagit needs to be closed)
  2. Goto Registry Editor (press start and type regedit)
  3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  4. Find the Software folder, then TechSmith
  5. Click on the 18 folder then in the right-hand pane scroll down to "DataStoreLocation"
  6. Delete that entry.  Yes, delete it.
  7. Relaunch Snagit and it will ask you where the Datastore is.
  8. Select your folder
