Default Image capture folder

Allow the user to specify a default capture folder.   While this seems possible with the file share settings in the screen grab below, the Use last folder does not preserve the user-selected folder across Snagit program executions.  (Snagit seems to revert to the Windows default documents folder.)  I suggest you save the user-selected folder in an .ini or .cfg file or that you support the combination of the Ask for file name and the Fixed folder options.

No  but it sticks to the last one opened
But that is a great idea. Let it always go to one folder if the user chooses and then add that to the profiles
+1 here!

It doesn't stick to the last folder opened if you terminate and restart Snagit.

Do you mean an abnormal close? A regular closing of the program seems to make it stick for me

Great idea.  Would help me stay organized and specify a folder that I automatically backup in my User-created-Data directories

Sorry, I should have been more precise.  The Last Folder Used setting only gets "reset" after I run CCleaner, a program that cleans up all internet cache, temporary files, and other junk which accumulates on the computer during normal usage.  My point is that Techsmith should save this setting in a more permanent place such as a .ini or .cfg file owned and maintained by the Snagit software.

Ok then the issues is with Ccleaner. If I understand you, NOT running Ccleaner would let the setting stay (?)
Find where that setting is stored and put it in the Ccleaner exclusions list. You may have to open a ticket. I checked the registry and didn't find anything obvious there. When Ccleaner is done tonight, double click the Windows Explorer results and see if you can identify it. Otherwise you might open a ticket and ask them where the setting is stored. (If you get the answer, please post it back here for others to find)

I have located the option with CCleaner which clears the Use Last Folder setting.  It is Other Explorer MRUs within Windows Explorer.  It is still my opinion that Techsmith should save folder name in a .cfg or .ini file which it owns and not in a location which can be purged by a cleanup tool.  Why should this setting be handled differently than other application settings?

I know the 'default image capture folder' is on the February " Feature Request Round-Up " list.
It is counted as 5 of 6 votes there. But actually this topic has been requested before in other threads, so the counts should be higher I suppose.

Setting Snagit capture library file location.

Right now, for each and every profile a specific folder should be assigned.
With me, all... SnagIt files are saved into 1 folder. From there I will rename them and movem them into the relevant other folders.

SnagIt should have an option to save all outputs into 1 folder. In case for specific file another folder is required, then that could be set in the specific profile.
e.g. one might save all images into \..\images  (set as default)
and videos into \..\videos (set in the profile to override the default)
however, if that is too complicated, then just have all output saved into 1 folder.

Right now, at each new install, for each and every profile should be set again, some 10 clicks per profile..
