Hi all. I'm new to Camtasia, and I'm building numerous short "how to" videos (as I see several others have been doing). I'm frustrated by having to change the cursor highlighter settings every time I need to highlight the cursor. How can I change the default settings and save the changes so they become the new defaults?

You and me both, Nigel :-) It's one of those features that I wish Camtasia had, but even with the latest Camtasia 2018, they haven't implemented it. I too dislike that 100% bright yellow retina burning ugly setting.
The closest thing to saving settings in Camtasia 2018 are the "themes". I just found out that it extends to the cursor effects too, the option appears when you click the colour swatch.
I wonder if there's a way to tweak a system file somewhere...?

Thanks for the reply Jay, at least I know where I stand. I had a look at the themes but as you say they're not all-inclusive. And tweaking system files is not my favorite way of making changes - things tend to crash! :-)

If the default settings of mouse pointer shape have been modified, you will be able to notice the changes only when you try to play the recorded/captured movie file. During the process of capturing/recording the movies using the Camtasia Recorder even when the default cursor shape settings have been modified, you will see the default cursor whatsoever.

Thanks Kayakman
I thought this functionality was going to be built into Camtasia 2018. Your workaround works really well. I'm using it for Cursor Highlight, Left Click Rings, and Keystroke location.
