Default Clipboard capture

This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Can you save a capture to editor AND place on clipboard in Snagit?

Perhaps it's just me...  I have installed Snagit V12 on the PC having happily used previous versions.

I just can't seem to do a Region capture plain and simple and have that area stored in the Clipboard ?

I don't want to Edit or see any other fancy bits and pieces. Just a vanilla region select to clipboard.

Appreciate some help to find the appropriate settings, for example I can't even find under preferences where I can turn the cursor on or off etc.

Hey Garth,

You should be able to set up a profile that accomplishes that. Here is a tutorial on setting up profiles in the new Snagit 12:

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that Logan. Yep I had actually worked through the Profile thing, but it is a lot of messing around, unless I have not understood it correctly.

I did set up a Profile anyway and that's fine. But I don;t want to have to select a profile every time I want to do a capture, just a big time waste. In the old Snagit I was using, it was so simple and clean. Set the desired option in the preferences and then every time I did my Ctrl PrtScrn the Region appeared, I dragged, and bingo it as in the Clipboard.

Now as far as I can see I have to click on the taskbar and select Snagit, then select the profile I want, before I can grab the screen. So unless as I say I am doing something wrong, that is just a pain. And just not practical if what I want to grab is in motion so I have to be real quick and time the Ctrl PrtScrn just right, there is no time to mess around.

Am I missing something here ?

Hello there,
Assign your Profile a Hot Key. I Save to Photoshop most of the time myself.
I hit " Page up" and that's it.  I'm in Photoshop and so is my captured Image
( After selecting it).

You can assign your Profile to " Share"  to the Clipboard as well.
See 2nd. Image

Regards, Joe

I've never saved to Multiple Destinations before but I can see you can do that as well.
First time I saw that. LOL

Hello Joe,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this. Sorry I have only just now viewed the reply.

Excellent, this works great, thanks.

What I was doing was setting up the capture in Preferences > Hot Key > Global Capture.
Doing this forcibly pushed me through to the Editor by the looks of things. And actually those hot key setting clash with the settings in the Profiles.

After I modified as you described all is working fine.

Perhaps this is something Techsmith might want to review.

cheers and thanks again.
