I have a multiple-monitor setup and have detached the Canvas and moved it to another monitor to resize the Timeline panel to be able to see more tracks. However, it also compresses the Tools and Properties panels.
I would like to suggest that all panels (i.e., Timeline, Tools, and Properties) be able to be detached/undocked from the main application window so they can be floated to suit the needs of the user. For example, having the Canvas within the Menu bar on one screen (maximized) while having the Timeline vertically expanded and displayed on a second monitor with both the Tools and Properties panels. Because of their widths, the Tools and Properties panels can be detached from each other or docked to each other and independently resized.
The ability to have the various panels detach from the main application window would allow for better viewing of elements (i.e., Timeline tracks) as well as allow the user to optimize his or her workspace by moving panels to the best position for him or her.
It would also be beneficial to have the ability to create and save different workspaces so that users wouldn't need to set up their workspace each time.
