I received an email about a Snagit Mac issue for High Sierra (washed-out images). I have done "check for updates" in my 3.3.7 version, and no update was offered. I see that 4.x is what's available as a download (but I assume with an upgrade cost).

My specific question: Is Snagit Mac 3.3.7 affected by the High Sierra problem?

Hi,

You're correct that version 4 has an upgrade cost ($25 for a single license). We have not done extensive testing with version 3, but as far as we can tell, the source of this issue was an intermittent bug with macOS Sierra (10.12), so if you're on 10.11 or earlier, then you should be ok. Additionally, we are hoping to release a tool sometime in the next week or so to fix captures regardless of what version of Snagit you have.

I had the same question, only I bought Snagit less than 2 months ago. Am I not supposed to get free updates for a year?

If you have version 4 already, then the 4.1.6 upgrade is free and should be available via Check for Updates in Snagit.
If you bought within the last few months, then you should have received a key for version 4.

I don't need my old screen captures. Will newly created screenshots on the upcoming High Sierra also be washed out or is the bug only related when using data created with older version of the operating system?

Hi Markus,

Yes, newly created captures on High Sierra are ok. This issue only affects captures taken on Sierra (10.12).

Hi Luke,
Thank you for your answer, I did not receive a key for ver 4. But I did find it in my profile. Thanks again, problem solved.
