Disable Microphone when capturing image?

I listen to music while I work. Upon starting my snagit 2018 version for a simple image capture, my speakers stop and I hear what snagit is picking up with the microphone. When I close fully out of snagit, my music comes back.

I use the simplified crosshairs with the default of image capture. The option to record the microphone is off.

How can I stop snagit from using the microphone?

I get a message from Bitdefender when booting that Snagit is accessing my laptop microphone; how do I disable this inappropriate Snagit access?

I have the same issue. There's no need for snagit to access the microphone when I only want to capture images.  Please respond.

What version of SnagIt are you talking about kieron?

SnagIt 2018.2.0 and earlier versions of 2018.
Had a issue where the webcam was enabled when you started SnagIt.

The cure is to install an update to version 2018.2.1 or newer versions of SnagIt 2018. Updating 2018 to a newer version of 2018 is free.
Heres the support article.https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005540571

Thanks for the response Joe.
I was using Version 2019.1.4 (and just updated to 2019.1.5) but this still comes up https://tinyurl.com/rsutqnj

As you can see, it's a microphone warning, not a camera warning and it comes up when I use image capture. Thanks
Kieron

I have this problem using  "Snagit 2020.0.2.4781"  on a windows 7 64b laptop.
I don’t want to disable my internal microphone completely; I just don’t want some sneaky program eavesdropping without my knowledge or approval.

I am seconding this whole thread.
it is not about the webcam, it is the microphone...
Windows 10
Snagit 2020.0.3 64 bit
yes, I also have Bit Defender - if I was not using bit defender I would probably never know Snagit was accessing my microphone - even before I launch snagit.
Start computer... wait for about 2 minutes, doing nothing other than logging in.... bit defender pops up letting me know snagit is using the microphone.

I have the same issue. Bit Defender is reporting that Snagit 2020 is accessing the microphone each time the computer is booted. Why is this occurring? Does Snagit use voice commands to start a screen capture?
