Disable Share capture

Hi

On the top menu I am constantly getting a reminder to share my captures. Why on earth shall I share my captures? My screen captures and videos are confidential use only and Snagit always wants to remind me to share them with whoever it wants.

I want this reminder to be gone, for good. Also that (I) icon on the top, next to my account name, should be gone too. It is useless. It has an useless checklist like -Install Snagit -Take an image capture -Share a capture, etc etc .I already installed Snagit so I can see it. I can already take a screenshot so what is the point? Also again why would I share my captures? To share customer information? To provide confidential information?

No thank you.

This program should stay as simple screenshot and video taking application, nothing more. I don't need to share my captures with anyone else, unless I want to go to court for corporate espionage and breach of lots of security protocols.

What version of SnagIt are you using?

If it's the latest (2018) , you can turn off the banner by clicking Edit > Editor preferences...

You can't get rid of it.  But once you have disabled notifications using Rick's tips, the annoying tell-tales will stop and you will be able to just ignore it.

When it was active it used to wind me up.  Now I'm not even aware of its existence

To answer your other question:

Also again why would I share my captures? To share customer information? To provide confidential information?

There are many reasons. For example, for myself personally, I'm often capturing funny things I see and "sharing" them over to facebook and pinterest. I also work with documentation type tools creating web pages, books, and other material. And in those cases, I click Share so that I can save them to my hard drive for insertion into other tools. So perhaps you might consider just making a mild mental translation that when you see "Share", it really means "Save"?

But it's just a highlighted help feature.  The flip side is, users complain if they don't have useful features pointed out to them.

TechSmith are damned if they do and damned if they don't.  So they took a middle path and provided an opt-out.

That works for me.  Clearly not for you.  Enough said.  i hope you can enjoy the rest of this great app.

Other than this useless feature, Snagit is one of my favorite app. I have more than 20k screenshots and lots of videos in my archives.

One more thing, I hope they can fix full screen bug. For example if I open and RDP session, Snagit One Click window is not visible, but if I minimize screen, close and open One Click window then maximize RDP screen, it works.

Other than that I have no issues.

Interesting. I'm not sure I've ever noticed mine blinking at me. I was looking at my options and I see something mentioning mobile sharing. Mine is off and I'm unable to enable it. I know Paul uses another TechSmith app named Fuse with his. Perhaps if this is enabled it makes the Share button blink?

Paul, what say ye?

Cheers... Rick :)

As I recall it blushes when it wants your attention but my memory may be playing tricks - I switched it off a long time ago.  It was certainly annoying, because it sits in your highly sensitive peripheral vision and therefore cause a nuisance far out of proportion to its size
