Does anyone know how to prevent Snagit Updater from starting?  I don't want to see the dialog ever, if possible.

I am on v2018 Ther is a service named "TechSmith Uploader Service" that points to a file located at ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\TechSmith Shared\Uploader\UploaderService.exe""

Personally I would contact tech support and see if they have an easy solution. Other than that you can TRY renaming that file and alternatively  "SnagPriv.exe"  in the program folder, one at a time and rebooting to see what happens

You can prevent SnagIt from checking for updates automatically. If it's not checking, it shouldn't  prompt you to update.

It may not prevent the updater from running in the background. But it should stop the pop ups.

And the registry key on 2019 is here

HKCU:\Software\TechSmith\SnagIT\19\Updater\AllowDateBasedCheck

Enabled set REG_DWORD = 1
Disabled set REG_DWORD = 0

The registry is actually here:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TechSmith\SnagIt\19]

"NoAutoUpdateSupport"=dword:00000001

Absolutely. This depends on how you want to disable it. I made it for Microsoft RDS and as all other settings we have is user based this one worked the best for me to keep the settings in alignment with each other. You basically could also just make it in the custom package builder.
