The documentation does not seem to be correct in regards to how to disable auto update. Can you please check to see how one might disable the autoupdate feature?

Hi Ed,

There are actually a couple of different things you could be talking about, so I'm going to take a guess that what you're looking for is this...

Launch Snagit go to Tools > Program Preferences > Update Options and clear the box labeled "Enable automated update checking." It looks like this:

Does that help, or were you asking about enterprise deployments or something else?

I showed your post to one of our document authors and she said she'd take a look and verify our documentation is correct.

Thanks for your response Glenn.

Yes I’m referring to the Enterprise install. I have a Snagit.reg file saved in the distribution folder( please see my Reg file at the bottom of this post). When i run the install following the instructions it does not bring in the Reg file. I have the folder on my desktop for testing, i run the CMD files with the suggested switches and it does not seem to wanna bring in the keys.

This is part of the documentation I’m referring to

Distributing Snagit Manually
If you do not have a Windows server or another deployment mechanism, you can manually install Snagit
using the command line. This could be placed in a batch file or a script you write.
1. Place the installer, the Snagit.reg file (if needed), and the transform into the same directory on the central
file share.
The installer searches for a file named Snagit.reg in the same directory as the original
.MSI file and, if present, automatically installs it into the main Snagit installation
directory.
2. The package and customizations can now be installed manually on the client machines using msiexec.
3. Any transforms (.MST files) are applied by specifying the transform filenames in the property TRANSFORMS
on the msiexec command line. Multiple transform files are separated by semicolons.
4. To install Snagit without any user dialogs, applying a transform named “Setup_Snagit.mst,” run the following
command:
msiexec /i \\machine\share\Snagit\Setup_Snagit.msi
TRANSFORMS=”Setup_Snagit.mst” /qn

This is the snagit.reg file that it should pull in. When I manully import the Reg file it does disable the AutoUpdater. I rigth click on the Bat/Cmd file and "Run as Admin"

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TechSmith\SnagIt\11]
"NoRegistrationDiaglogSupport"=dword:00000001
"NoAutoUpdateSupport"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TechSmith\SnagIt\11\Updater]
"LastCheck"=hex(b):00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"DaysBetween"=dword:0000000e
"PromptToCheck"=dword:00000000
"AllowDateBasedCheck"=dword:00000000

Ed,
I think I can help, but this might be easier over email. Can you send me a note to m.curtis@techsmith.com?

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis
