Do I need Camtasia for Windows if I already have snagit 2018?

Hi all, I have recently installed snagit 2018, and was wondering do I need to install a package for an individual worth AUD$ 326.36 for Camtasia or just use snagit 2018.

Please advise when you get a chance.

Kind regards,

Shiraz

The answer to that is another question.

Exactly how long is a piece of string?

And the answer to THAT, of course, is... It depends!

Depends on what you plan on doing. Are you planning on creating video captures? If so, then SnagIt *MAY* do what you need, but it's rather limited on many things. So if you aren't planning on recording your screen, then forget about Camtasia. If all you are wanting is a screen capture (as in still images) application, SnagIt is likely all you need.

But if you are wanting to record screencasts where you record activity to perhaps show others how to do something such as work with an Excel spreadsheet or add Headers and Footers to a Word document, then you really should investigate and consider Camtasia.

Cheers... Rick :)

I don't need the full blown Camtasia but would like something more than what Snagit will do. I used Screencast-o-matic and am paid up through next year but they have decided that their service is worth it's weight in gold so I too will be looking

Shiraz, two complete different programs. Camtasia is great for Screencasting creating voice overs with Powerpoint for meetings training purposes. It is more of a video program.

Snagit is a full blown screen capture program and it can capture video too but with limitations.

Speed could be a difference too.

Nice comparision done by Mike Curtis below if it helps you.
