Camtasia is not that versatile.

Camtasia captures .trec files using the avi format. However, you cannot chose the format.

You can configure Camtasia to record directly to avi. You have some control over codecs. But that won't get you what your looking for.Plus, you can't record system audio.Only a microphone.

Just a slight clarification on Joe's response.

*IF* you change the recording format to make Camtasia record directly to AVI and not .trec, that's when you lose the capability of recording system audio.

As long as you are recording to the .trec format, you DO have the ability to record system audio. ;)

As I read what Joe had replied with, it sounded as if he was saying that in both recording formats that system audio was unavailable.

Cheers... Rick :)

It sounds like you received these specifications from an agency or studio.  Those specs are fairly specific, and I'm assuming meant for broadcast.  Is this assumption correct?

In that case, they are talking about the finished product - not necessarily how the original footage was captured.

I guess I'm just curious to know more of where you received those specifications.
