I recently started working for a new company, and I brought my snagit account with me and use this primarily for my documentation. my manager cannot access/view/open my screenshots because he doesn't have a snagit account. he wants me to use 'snipping tool!' EEGADS!! short of him purchasing snagit, this company is too frugal for that, is there a way he can view my snagit screenshots...so i can continue using it!?!? please help!

Hi there

It depends on how you save your screen captures. If you save in SNAG format, indeed others will need SnagIt to see them. But if you save in an image format such as GIF, BMP, JPG, PNG or other, others should have no issue seeing them.

So what format are you saving in?

Cheers... Rick :)

Oh, and even if you have saved in SNAG format, you can also choose to save in other formats. So don't feel as if you are stuck if this is what you did. The SNAG format just keeps all the callouts and other features editable, while the image formats "burn in" all the added elements and you won't be able to change them later.

Why can't you just screen shoot yourself your files and save files for him.

Assuming you're editing these images, I think the easiest way to export them is to drag them out of the tray.

It does png by default, but if you poke around in the settings you can change the filetype.

I agree with @rick 100%, as I also feel you’re saving them in snag format which means no one else can view them unless they have snaggy installed.

Save them in png or jpg for others to view and your boss will be happy as a clam.

thank you! all good and helpful info that i will use...especially the dragging out of the tray since i have used that method to attach test results. so it sounds like when i have done that anyone else should be able to view the screenshot.

Don't forget that a free Screencast.com account comes with Snagit. That is what I use to share screen shots.
