Can I record the Win 8 metro screens and gestures with the latest version of Camtasia Studio?

I'm not sure what you're asking here. I am able to capture the screen in Windows 8.1. While the screen is being captured, I can go to the metro screen and back to my desktop and Camtasia records it all. When Windows is in the Metro screen, it hides the mouse cursor and parks it outside the areas that a person might click on. At least this is true on a device that has a touchscreen. I imagine it would show your mouse where it actually is if you did not have a touchscreen. I tried dragging my finger in a figure 8 on the Metro screen. Camtasia recorded the visuals, with a parked mouse cursor. No emphasis on where my finger was being dragged other than the default Windows touchscreen option to emphasize it.

From what I can see, this is incumbent upon Windows itself. I'm not sure if Camtasia or other software could override this. I'm not sure exactly what you meant by gestures since on my iPad, it's built into the hardware that I can pinch and zoom and thus far, Windows 8 on an Ultrabook doesn't seem to have this functionality even though Microsoft does host a list of "supported gestures."
