* I downloaded the latest version of camtasia.

* I have a key for version 8.

* I started making videos with the later version ( i think version 9)

I was told I have to download and install the old version of Camtasia.

But I don't want all my .trec files to go to waste! How Can I make use of all the .trec produced on the newest version of camtasia with my old license?

Help appreciated.

Hi Koshy;
What version of Camtasia is your software key good for? The reason I ask is if you have a Camtasia Studio 8 software key, and have Camtasia 8.6 installed, then you can import the TREC file into Camtasia Studio 8.6 and work on it with little trouble. If you have an older version than that then unfortunately you will not be able to work with the TREC files until you upgrade to to the latest version.

I always keep at least the last two versions of Camtasia running as updates come out and I choose whether or not to upgrade... I currently have both 8 and 9 running... 8 lets you use and manage mp3 audio and they killed that audio format in 9... a very inconvenient speed bump.

So the rule is, just because you are upgrading to the latest version there is no rule that says you have to kill previous versions on your computer... in fact I would suggest it is unwise to kill them, at least for a while.
