Duplicate current image in Snagit

I often use various instances of the same images in my workflow - or some times make a backup before editing.

I would love to have an extra option on the Editor's capture area when right-clicking : Duplicate...

Thanks

Agree - I often find that I complete a detailed annotation of a graphic, then wish for a way to instantiate a copy of this file so I can then delete a few stamps, boxes, etc. for a simpler version without modifying the original.

This is also for the case where you are doing a build for camtasia or PPT. You need to build the most complex view first (with all annotations arranged in their final state) and then you subtract the elements in reverse order and save to create the step-by-step build.

Hello,
I believe Snagit Editor makes it easy to do this. However, the technique might not be that discoverable.

Essentially, just choose Ctrl + N on the keyboard to create a new canvas. Then, drag the image from the tray to the new canvas. Then, ungroup all of the elements so you can work with them separately.

I have made a video to show you.

I hope this helps!

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for your reply.

I know it's feasible as I do it quite a bit... In fact, I am after a feature that would do it "all in 1 click" for me.

A bit like the "Copy All" button which groups multiple actions : "Select All" and "Copy"...

Thanks

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Easy Duplication of Objects in Snagit and Camtasia.

In other applications (Microsoft PowerPoint is one) there is an option to basically perform a copy and a paste all in one shortcut. It's normally known as "Duplicate" and is typically done using the key sequence of Ctrl+D.

It would be great if SnagIt and Camtasia offered this ability.
