Allow me to delete the default quick styles in Snagit

I'm using Snagit 11 and am trying to edit permanently/delete some quick styles.
When I right click on the style, I see the option to delete, but nothing happens when I select it. I'm on the draw image tab.
Thanks

Talking to myself since nothing else was posted. I ran the code I found from another topic that creates all the old quick styles. I was really having a hard time with the new ones- for example, the red-lined box had white inside the borders instead of being transparent, which wasn't helpful trying to mark a part of an image.

no idea WTH no one else told you this, but you CAN make the middle [''inside the borders''] -- the fill -- transparent. Now that I gave you the keyword, draw a red quick style box on an image and make the FILL transparent. VOILA!

Dave, I had tried that, but I had to do it each time I used the box, making an extra step. Everything is OK now that I have imported the old quick styles.

To remove a quick style, select it, right click and click on remove quick style.

I can do that with the ones I just imported per the post above, but I couldn't delete the ones that came with v 11 and I still can't delete them. I can right click, but the delete quick style is grayed out. The others aren't. I'd post a screenshot, but it won't take a screenshot of itself.

Hi Judy, I'm sorry. You can't delete the default QuickStyles that come with Snagit. Here's a thread where Manny and I chimed in on a request to have more control over the QuickStyles (including having yours at the top). http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

Sorry we don't have the answer you're hoping for, but thanks for the feedback and this is something we will consider.

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

Making the program work as specified in the Help and the GUI is something you'll consider?

I found the post of how to add the v10 quick styles back in when I ran across this post- someone else complaining about the ability to edit in v11.

Mike had posted this reply and gave a link to the patch, which was so helpful. I like snagit (I was cleaning out my screenshots from last year and found out I had 3000+.
I use it as an extra memory for me as I'm working on development of web sites. My own 65 year old memory doesn't hold much anymore.
Update: There is NOT a way to somehow hack the objects such as arrows, callouts, etc. from a prior version of Snagit into Snagit 11. These are generated in the code, not something like Stamps which are just a referenced set of images.

Oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize you meant the built in quick styles which can't be removed. A user can only remove the styles they add. Just as it required a special program to add back the v10 styles it would require a Snagit program modification to do what you want. Removing things one at a time probably could be done if the TechSmith programmers put their mind to it I would think but at present you can't do it.

These "extra" quick styles though may add to clutter but they shouldn't affect program performance in any way. I'm afraid for the moment you'll just have to live with it as is.

Yes, please update the software code to give the user control back in deleting the default quick styles and moving their custom quick styles to their preference in the styles box. The default quick style are dull. I'm studying now for a Python class and am remaking a few quick styles with a vibrant red color.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled ALLOW ABILITY TO DELETE QUICK STYLES!.

HOW MANY TIMES DO WE NEED TO ASK?

Hi all - thanks for letting us know this was important to you! It’s been a bit of a wait for some, but with Snagit 13 you can now delete the default quick styles that ship with a new install of Snagit. Just right-click any of the default styles and choose delete.

If there’s a color or style you never use...or want all the quick styles to reflect your custom styles...you can get rid of the default set! Just another way Snagit 13 can be customized to help you work faster.
