Elements Disappearing even after saved ---> Ouch.... Camtasia 3 Mac on iMac with ElCapitan - annotations, animations and text just disappearing off the tracks. I save everything incessantly, so this must be some sort of bug. But it's a BIG ONE. Media is still in the library but what a PIA to have to go back and sync everything up. This is really disappointing. Plus, the font issue. I don't think this version was ready for release.

Art,

Camtasia 3 is working flawlessly for many of us, so let's focus on the facts of your problem to try to solve it. Can you describe exactly what happens? Do you save a project, close it, reopen it and discover that media have disappeared off the timeline?

You say media are still in the bin. Do their icons change? Can you restore them? do they disappear again?

Is the problem repeatable? Can you record a screen video?

Please give details. Thanks.

Thanks Dave...

I don't know exactly what happened.  The application was saved and closed/quit.  When re-opened later in the day elements were missing from the timeline.  It almost seemed random as to what and where this occurred within the 4-minute video.

I do not record screen videos.  I typically build from scratch.

Yes, all missing elements were still in the media bin with the same icons.  I did not move any files around that would have made a linked element go missing.

I was near the end of the project so I replaced over 12 missing elements wrapped it up and rendered to .MP4 just in case anything else went haywire.

I have gone back in this morning and everything is still intact.  So, maybe this is a fluke.

I've been using Camtasia for over 10 years and never experienced this behavior.  It makes me a little nervous and will definitely be paying attention to this issue on the next new project starting next week.

Also a little bummed since all of my old Camtasia videos used Myriad Pro Condensed which is not available with 3.0.

So, flawless for some, but, not for all.

If you're talking about some faces in a font family not being available, yea, it's a problem that needs to get fixed fast. Here's a post with a work-around. I've been using the bastardized font described therein for six months with no problems.
