Email link in hotspot?

I'm trying to insert an email link in the video but it doesn't seem to be working. I used mailto:someone@somewhere.com but no go. I can get a normal http:// link to work in Screencast but not the email link. Can this be done?

Also, any ideas on how to include links in a video uploaded to Youtube?

Thanks in advance! -Smith

I do not believe you can email off a hotspot

but you can use a hotspot to jump to URL that opens a fill-in-the-blanks web page that can be sent to the same recipient

Hello TechSmith folks. . .    Can you guys please add the "mailto:" into Camtasia's hyperlink feature.  We want it BAD.  It really kind of stinks to have an email address on-screen and not be have your viewers click on it.

THANKS!

Hello,
We do not have that functionality.
However, I am going to turn this over to an Idea post, okay?
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.

Wow, apparently not. I was just looking at this to see if there's a workaround. Very odd, because if I change the value of the config_xml.js file to include the mailto address it still doesn't work. I'd have figured there might be some kind of behind the scenes hack that could be employed.

Cheers... Rick :)

I suppose if you are determined, you could configure a separate HTML page that performs a redirect to a mailto address. Then just point the hotspot to the page.

Just kind of thinking out loud a bit here...

Thanks Rick for trying to figure out a workaround. It sure would be nice if the hotspot have the feature that would allow a mailto feature.

it's always surprising when a mature product has this kind of missing feature. The work around used to work in the old version but looks like they got rid of it in the improvements.  huge gap.

All I see under interactivity is quizzes.

the interactivity panel on the left side only addresses quizzing

but interactivity, as supported by MP4 productions with SmartPlayer [controller] also involves table of contents that are created using markers; captions via the separate captions UI, and hotspots
