Enable copy & paste directly after screenshotting

After taking a screenshot, the editor is opened with the screenshot shown. Immediately pressing CTRL+C doesn't copy the image to the clipboard, however. One has to manually focus the editor window (image widget), before that becomes possible.

When working with keys only, needing to use the mouse just for this is a hassle.

I assume opening the editor doesn't focus the correct window widget. This could probably easily be changed.

Hi there

If you consistently find yourself copying the image immediately after the editor opens, you could configure a preset that would already have the image copied to the clipboard for you.

This works as I do it constantly. Adding a hot key makes it even quicker

I'm a new user (just purchased today, ALONG WITH Maintenance!!) and had the same issue. Went thru Support Chat as to why "Copy To Clipboard" was not working, and the response was,

"It does, in every case except for the red capture button on the one-click menu"

MY response was, "Are you kidding? Why would one-click capture behave differently? With all the effort to allow capture profiles, why can't you select a profile AS THE DEFAULT (for all cases!!!)"

a bit frustrated.

Does not the red button perform the last used profile? I don't use it very often but it seems to me that it works that way.  Please correct me as neede

I always thought that it used whatever profile was selected in the dialog. And that may well be the last used profile, I'm not sure.

To be totally honest, unless I'm testing things on my end in an effort to help others, I have defined a profile and a hotkey combo that I use the vast majority of the time.

Cheers... The goofy Rick (not the sage Yoda Rick. ;)

The Giant Red Button on One Click is dumb as a fence post.
When you hover your cursor over it,the pop up tells you exactly what it does.

SnagIt 11 and previous versions allowed you to change the default behavior of One Click.

People asked TechSmith to return that core functionality when SnagIt 12 was first released and got nowhere.

Now your stuck with the Giant Menu if you want to press a customized Giant Red Button.

Or you can reach for the smaller drop down items below the "Easier to Select" Giant Red Button.

Or you can assign Hot Keys to a capture Profile.

But you won't adjust anything that changes the Giant Red Button on One Click into anything more than a One Trick Pony.

Thanks Joe, I found the same thing. AS LONG AS one assigns a hotkey, you can use a defined profile. But the red button is highly lacking in functionality.. seems simple enough to just allow for assignment of a stored profile to the button. How tough is that??

That's the kicker, SnagIt 11 and previous versions did exactly that. I cannot understand for the life of me why they took this functionality away.

Here's SnagIt 11 in all it's glory.

At work for those that are unfamiliar with the good ol days of One Click.
