SNAG Rename

I would like the ability to rename my snags within the Snag Editor. I have over 4,000 snag, which are related to different projects that I am working on. I would like the ability to name them, instead of the name that SnagIt generates. I do not want to have to save the snag off into another form to be able to do so, as I may need to come back and use the snag in its original form.

In the library for both v11 and 12 you can do this by right clicking a  saved file.  For multiple files you can use the Batch Conversion Wizard for renaming them.   Have you tried that?

Apparently the unsaved files - which maybe is what you mean - can't be done individually but the wizard can handle name changes.

Again, as I mentioned in another post, I am not interested in converting the images. I want them as snags.

If you right click a file in the library, or choose File > Save As, under the "Save as type" box you can still choose to Save As SNAG, not just PNG.  http://screencast.com/t/GE3eKPNnRyp It will no longer be automatically saved (you'll get a prompt when you close it), but you'll still keep your movable objects for later editing.  I agree it would be nice to have an easier way to rename autosaved files.

Tim,

Thanks for the responses. The issue is that you will still have the original as well as the copy. I would really like to be able to look at the .snag, right click and rename. Additionally, it would be great to be able to separate the snags by category. I'll give you an example. I am working on a number of different projects for work, as well as personally studying Japanese, attempting to learn Kanji. My thousand or so Kanji snags are intermixed with my projects. Not to mention that my projects are intermixed. For a non-power user, the current methodology is great. However, if you are a power user such as myself, having all the snags in the same place and not be able to easily identify them is quite challenging.

I am sure you can't share with me the road map for the product, but I would suggest that if possible, you present to the product manager the following enhancements:

1. Ability to rename snags from the snag editor.
2. Ability to view snags from Explorer (you will probably have to share your file format with MS)
3. Ability to set project folders
4. Ability to save snags in other locations other than C:\Users\username\etc.......

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Regards,

KenB
