We are evaluating the Camtasia 2018 and we think that the area where the subtitles are displayed on the screen is quite narrow in relation to the width of the film. Is there any way to extend this area? Thank you!
Aside from making the fonts smaller no. Close captions in Camtasia are ADA compliant. The default settings have a font size of 64. As you will see in this image the fonts are actually quite large. This is a 1920 by 1080 production.
If you click on the font that the far left of the caption window. It will open the properties for fonts. There you can make the size of the fonts smaller. In the example below I change the size of the fonts to 28. You can also see the red warning that the close captions are no longer ADA compliant.
Once you applied the smaller fonts the closed caption box will span a larger area. However you still have no control over how wide the closed caption box is. In the image below you will see a comparison of the size difference.
As you can see it's not a huge difference but it is an improvement.
The only other option is to create multiple text callouts. And abandon using close captions altogether.
