Enter Key no longer works to complete captures?

Prior to upgrading to Snagit 2019, I would use the "Enter" key to complete captures. This was MUCH faster than moving the mouse cursor to the "Capture" icon and clicking it. Is there a way to change settings so that, after selecting the area I want captured, I can just hit "Enter" again? Thanks

Are you using All in One capture?  If you use Image capture you don't even have to use the enter key

As Paul said if you use image capture it opens the editor as soon as you capture automatically.

I'm clicking on the capture button and I'm still being prompted to select the capture type versus going right to the editor like I was able to in the previous version.  How can I skip this step?

Go into SnagIt CAPTURE (manage presets) select the image option in the top section, and choose the settings you want.  That's it.

I am missing the "Enter" feature in the "All-in-One" capture and I don't want to use an "Image Only" capture instead.

There are several reasons why it should make it back into the next release, I think.

A) Using the "Enter" key can be done without looking at the keyboard
(easy target)

B) I don't have to remember different keyboard shortcuts for different captures (i.e. video and image)

C) It requires less conscious / unconscious thinking

D) The "Enter" key does not have any new function associated with it

Generally, for me it works like this:

I want to take a video or a screenshot -> I remember exactly one short cut and from there I would like to interact with Snagit. From this shortcut, I want to be able to do most common thing (i.e. screenshot) with a simple mechanism (e.g. "Enter" key).

If I want to do something more rare (e.g. panoramic, video, timelapse) then it is OK, to use the extra effort and move the mouse to the respective buttons. -> It is good to have it visually shown so it is suitable for those who don't want to learn another set of shortcuts.

I would say that it is beneficial for most users to only remember one shortcut,
because they are using other programs as well which come with their own
shortcuts. So it is unreasonable for people having to learn multiple
shortcuts. Having to remember it, requires thinking.

Whenever possible, don't make the user think....

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,

Robert

Hi Robert

If possible, could you perhaps offer a step by step of where you hope to see Enter?

You referred to All in one as the capture type. And with that, you typically define a capture area. And I often will get the mouse positioned and "set" the start point using the spacebar. Then drag the opposite edge and nudge the control point and press Enter to set the region. So Enter does seem to work there. Are you also wanting Enter to be used to set the start point?

I think if you could clarify exactly how you would like to see it work in a step by step process, it would likely help the SnagIt team see how it would be beneficial. And when you think about it, those are the most important folks to convince. ;)

Cheers... Rick :)

This feature was in version 8 and was very useful. Why did Techsmith eliminate it? I just downloaded the last trial version and did not like it because the Enter Key

Hi Carlos, Techsmith listened and re-introduced that feature in the latest version. I am using it again with the All-in-one capture shortcut. Haven’t tested it with image or video capture alone.
Give the all-in-one a try. It should do fine.
