Is there a way to have an eraser with a square shape?
The current circle is not easy to use.
Am I missing a setting?
Thanks

Unfortunately, there's no way to select a square eraser.
To the best my knowledge, the eraser tool has always been round.

I'm not sure what you're trying to erase?
If you trying to erase a large square or rectangular area. You could use the square selection tool. After selecting an area you can hit delete.
You can resize the selected area by grabbing the handles.
However, you have to be very careful to hover your cursor over one of the resize handles until a double arrow appears.

If you accidentally click somewhere else on the selection. It will become a fixed selection.
You can hit undo to make it active again.

This can be handy if you need to make long straight erases.
Other than that, it's kind of a clunky procedure and less than ideal.

Regards, Joe

HI
Thanks for the tip. I am sure the selection tool will help in many cases.
I just came across this drop down from Excel which I found difficult to manage ... I had to go to Photoshop and use their square eraser.

Thanks

In addition to what Joe offered, when I'm doing such things, I often find myself selecting a rectangle of the color I want to end up with, then pressing and holding Ctrl as I click and drag to make a copy of it. Then I use the Shift+Arrow keys to "nudge" it where I need to cover up the unwanted area. If more edits are needed, I right-click and choose to "flatten" so the precisely placed element won't be accidentally selected and moved during a later operation.

Thanks Joe and Rick
Will consider your tips, for sure.
But it would be useful to users if Techsmith can add a square eraser.
Thanks
