I saved all the camtasia files on a shared drive so others can view them on my team. But they keep getting the error message above. What causes this message?

Hi Rachel,

Which settings are you using when producing you're videos? Also, do you know which of the produced file(s) your team members are trying to open?

Thanks,

Cait

This problem is well known by Techsmith.
Camtasia 7 was working fine, and Camtasia 8 gives this error message.
The problem has been discussed for several months and still there is no update of Camtasia 8 to solve the problem.

Videos made in WMV format are working fine, but the moment you make a flash even without interactivities people are getting the message mentioned above.

All the files needed are in the same map, and when double clicking one of the html-files made, internet explorer opens with the First-frame.png and when clicking on the arrowbutton to start playing the error message is displayed.

Please solve the problem for the sake of many users.

Has this problem been solved? I created a project and produced it, I now need to send it to a client so this error message is not good. I produced it into an mp4 file. Thanks.

I have the same problem and I need a solution ASAP! I must make these videos available to my team and organization by the end of the month.

As a person that just upgraded to 8, this does not look good. The date on these, MONTHS ago. Is there a solution yet? I have not found one online. Please let me know.

Hey Vicki, Are you using the most recent version of Camtasia? 8.1.2.

Same issue.  Camtasia 8.2.  Works fine on local computer html and mp4 and works when playing mp4 on webserver but html on the webserver gives the same error listed above..  Previously produced video in Camtasia 7 with chapters plays fine on the webserver (so not a server or browser setting issue).  Need the player because closed captioning must be available.  Help!

OK. I figured out my issue, kind of by chance.  I am posting to a network server on our intranet to a SharePoint site.  I cannot use the network path for my hyperlink to the html file and must have an http path.  This is also why I could not run directly via the network folder.
When I was troubleshooting, I logged in remotely via my personal PC to test other browsers (we can only use IE at work) and realized it was working because remotely, I have an http link to the SharePoint.  Hope what I learned helps someone else and hope this is fixed in the future because figuring out the http path is not straightforward for most of our sites.

Freakishly, I have the exact opposite issue.  Running via the network path works.  Running via the webserver using http does not.  And it is the http version that I need.  :(

I have this issue along with the constant crashing. I have been a long time user and after version 7 this has been the most unstable version. In order for me to avoid this problem I have to add extra work by editing smaller portions with limited effects and callouts, producing the clips and then piecing them together. This is ridiculous TechSmith, your updates should be more stable before you release them!

Hi Amanda, Mike @ Techsmith Support pointed me to this link:  https://techsmith.zendesk.com/entries/22849818 and it turned out that this resolved my issue.  Our network guys were able to sort it out using this information.  Hope that helps...
