Please help!

I have recreated my Camtasia video three times, and it's driving me nuts. When I try to save my project, it goes smoothly. I even exported to zip files just to make sure.

But when I open up the saved camproj files, and even when I use the "import zipped project..." I get this same error. It looks like a valid camproj file, so I feel like this error message is catching some other error instead.

Also, when I was completed with my video and tried to publish, an error popped up then as well. My project includes a few of the built-in effects (transitions, audio edits, zoom n pan, callouts), mp3 files, jpegs, and screencapture vids. I am using the Trial version of V8.0.1 on Windows 7 Enterprise.

Thanks,

Sami

How large is your Camrec file?
You might want to try downloading Notepad++

It's free and a lot nicer/more powerful that regular nteopad

Do you know what file in the clip bin might have been modified? The notepad thing is tricky - I had better luck using dreamweaver to find the bad track -or it you don't have it Notepad ++ is free and nicer to interface with

Sorry I didn't phrase that right - did you delete any physical files on your computer that were still listed in your .camproj clip bin?

That is usually what causes the problem - Camtasia can't find the deleted file so it just gives up on trying to open the file

I have happily used Camtasia for a couple of years, I'm running the latest version - 8.0.4 (Build 1060) - and just encountered this problem for the first time! I'm desperately hoping I haven't lost my work on this project! Reading through this thread it sounds like it should have been fixed in the 8.0.4 version - but it's obviously not. Do I really have to pay a fee to a freelancer to get a fix, Camtasia? Please help.

I am on 8.0.3. and have just experienced this issue - hence searching the error code and finding this thread. Now I have to convince my large corporate client to update their software - which will take me months to get tested and approved. In the meantime I'll look like a fool who can't produce the training video they've been paying me to produce.

Its 9pm and I am walking away after battling with this video for the last 3 weeks only to find it now won't actually spit out. Tomorrow I will try the Notepad work around. How can I get help with my file?

This just happend to me. I was working on a video for a very important event and now I can't deliver the version I intended. I am beyond pissed. Luckily I was coming to the end of the project.....but my vid needed polish. I am incredibly disappointed, but at least my 4 minute video can be remade thanks to me producing the actual video to test it. Thank god I did otherwise I would be freaking out even more than I am now.

This is serious, how many others can't deliver complete projects thanks to this :(.

I had this problem after three straight days of work (without closing Studio). I closed Studio to do a backup, and when I tried reopening the project it failed. I did upgrade to 8.1.2.XXXX and it opened successfully.

Just wanted to throw that out there as a point of reference...mine worked after upgrading to 8.1...

I am having this problem in version 8.1.2 (1327). I recorded a video on one computer and created a camproj. It all worked okay. I transferred all the files to another computer with the exact same version of Camtasia and nothing will open. I get the not a valid project error and also the codec error with the videos. Need help, please. This is unacceptable.

did you export the project as zip off the 1st PC, then import that zip on the other PC?

the only safe way to move projects and all the associated files is to use export as zip on file menu

I had the same problem. I did export as zip on file menu, then open the zip on the other PC and it didn't work. This is a big trouble to me 'cause i work in group and we need to share our files to make a complete one.

on the PC that was used to export the project as zip ...

as a test, can you import the zip on that PC and does the project then open OK?

We are using 8.1.2 demo version and got the same error. The scr="" does not exist in our file when we inspected in notepad. We did one move any of the linked files.

How to fix?
