ESC Editor Tools!

I have complained about this before and it would take about 5 minutes to fix!  In the Editor, after selecting a tool, you can't "get rid of it!"  The common method is to hit ESC to remove the focus on a tool.  You do it yourself in Capture.  Hit ESC, and clear.  BUT I select an arrow, for example, even after I use the arrow I can't move over the captured image without accidentally "dropping" an arrow.  Just let me hit ESC to clear the active tool.

I agree.  Also, the latest UI makes it too many clicks to get to "flatten an image".  Let me flatten an image no matter where I am in my workflow.

Hi,

If you right click anywhere on the canvas, you'll get a menu with the Flatten options.

We need to keep pushing this.  As I stated in my original email for their development people this should be a "before breakfast" change.  It also would not affect the present usage of the editor since the use of the ESC to disable the tool would be optional.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for this feedback, I will pass it along to the team. In the mean time, you can press control V to switch to the move tool, which would get you the desired behavior. Not quite as easy as escape, but it might help for now.

We released a new version today (Snagit 2018) that, among many other features, includes the ability to press escape to switch to the Move tool. Note that this is a paid upgrade for users who do not have a maintenance agreement. More information on upgrades here: https://www.techsmith.com/snagit-upgrade.html
