Is there a way to explicitly define the directory where the Snagit capture library is stored, and ideally that can be shared across multiple systems. I have a system running VMware Workstation running multiple Windows guests and would like to share the capture library among them.

You can't define the datastore where "unsaved" captures are located. However, you can certainly choose a folder where you can save captures and have it shared. You just have to go with an extra step of saving captures which you can do within a profile.

actually you can change the location by using NTFS junction points. (see sys internals website for the junction tool )

(
just like you can change the location of everything on you c:\ drive
using NTFS junction points. your home directory, the system32 directory, your program files directory,... everything .)

Junction points could be used but it's too complex for most users.  They would probably end up messing up their datastore even though Russinovich's tool makes it easier.  Perhaps you can try it and tell us how you got along with it.
