Allow export selection as video. We have PNG, we have gif, but we don't have mp4.

SnagIt records videos directly to mp4.
Its not a typical video editor where you can add an image to timeline and produce it as a video.

You can trim down a SnagIt recording, but thats it.

If you want to record an image displayed onscreen with the recorder. You could do that. "I Wouldn't"

Theres a lot of free video editors out there. If you don't have one, you might want to consider it.

I guess a phrased it poorly, what I would like is : instead of trimming from both ends, I wish I could select the portion I want to keep.

That makes sense, like selecting in and out points in most editors.

Windows 10 Photos app can combine mp4's. You can trim them and add titles as well.

If you want more functionality, theres a lot of free options these days.
Just google search https://techviral.net/free-video-editors-for-windows/

To clarify, the request is not stitching a video together, it's to allow exporting of a selection as a video.  For Example: I record my screen for 1 minute but only want to export 10 seconds from the middle by selecting in and out points  and then pressing export selection.  It would speed up my  workflow.

I don't need an additional app. I have camtasia, I just wish I could do it in one step. If you look at the video editor on Android you simple select the start end end point for the video, without having to cut the start and end separately. I really think adding a "export selection" option would benefit a lot of users.
