Extracting part of a larger project

I am working on a project that will be a "long" video (about 30 minutes) but it also needs to be segmented into "small" videos (about 2-3 minutes each).

The only way I can imagine doing it is to edit the original video and save it as is, then, select a section and delete everything else, save that segment as "part 1", then re-open the original, select the second segment and delete everything else, then save as "part 2" and so on.

Is there a simpler way to "copy and paste or save" only a segment at the time into another .trec project for the smaller sections?

This is a couple ways how I go about it.

Make sure you have snapping on for a least the Playhead and Markers. It will make it easier.

Segment your video in to the section you want as separate videos with the markers.

Place/snap the Playhead to a marker and then click and drag one of the Playhead handles to the next marker. Right click on the selection and select "Produce Timeline Selection As" or in the top menu click View>>Produce Timeline Selection As.

That will create a video just for that selection. Rinse and repeat.

The quicker way is to add markers for the beginning of each section you want as a separate video.
Than do a "Custom Production" and go through the wizard till at the options and under the video tab checkmark "Multiple files based on Markers" . Finish the wizard and produce.

Camtasia will produce each section as a separate video all at once.

Fantastic!!! Thank you for that illustrated answer. It is much appreciated (I knew there had to be a simpler way)
