Fade to black when the canvass is another color

Previously this solution was offered for fading to black at the end of the video http://www.screencast.com/t/DxYDeKYDx
The video includes a rendered project that shows it works.

However, I'm using Studio 8 on Windows 7, and it does not work -- the video fades through black and then ends on the canvass color I'm using elsewhere in the video. The black callout I'm using matches exactly the fade out timing.

Kayakman, I think you produced the how-to video. What's going wrong for me?

Easy.  What is the size of your video?  Dimensions?  I can send you a black image and you put that at the end of the video where you want it to FTB.  Then just put a regular fade from the video into the black image.  Extend the black image in your timeline for how long you want it to be black at the end of the video.

Would a black image even be needed? Seems all one would need is a shape that is filled with Black. ;)

I'm using 1152 x 648 for this one.
Kayak's video shows that the work-around works for him. I am using a black callout already per Kayak's instruction video.

It must be placed on a track below your video.

Did you place the callout on track one?

I've made new MP4 and AVI test productions; all end on black regardless of canvas color

still seems to work in CS8 if you do a custom production

but the MP4 w/player preset ends the video on a the last frame of video where the black lower object is ignored?

Selecting custom production did the trick. Thank you. Happy client. Happy day.

Maybe this will help. I just do it this way.

Add a callout, black fill and outline to the end of the video.
Resize it to cover the entire background
and than just drag the transition onto the split and
bridge the "Fade to Black" transition

When rendered your video ending should fade to black on to the callout and stop on it.
