Feature request: make it possible to edit shapepoints of the callout pointers/adjust the width of the pointer

I'd
like to submit a feature request. I'd like to be able to adjust the width of the callout pointer

(indicated in the screen using red ovals).

It would help me by giving me control of how wide the basis of the pointer is. In some situations it will obstruct too much of the screen and will not look aesthetically pleasing.

Cheerio.

What version of SnagIt are you using? Windows or Mac?

Because SnagIt for windows has this feature. I can't speak for the Mac version.

Regards,Joe

I have a Windows version: 2019.1.2. I don't see these extra two shapepoints that would allow me to edit that.

I've been holding back on updating to the newest version for a while.I just updated, and still have access to the adjustment handles.

You should probably contact support.

Or call, >>>

If it were me, I would attempt a repair install beforehand. They can repair many such problems.

A little playing around in my installation (Snagit 2019.1.2.3596 64 bit) and I experience the same as the original poster, even after a 'Repair.'

My SnagIt callouts NEVER had drag handles, over several (well, XP, 7 Pro and 10) versions of Windows, as shown in the screen shot below.

Well then, I suggest you open a support ticket.
When 2 people are experiencing the same thing, it sounds like it must be a bug.
I practically never use those callouts. So I don't care if the issue is fixed or not.

If no one brings it up to support, it will probably never be addressed.

Let me correct my previous post: A few other  shape seems to have drag handles for the pointer width!  I had never used these shapes, because I prefer shapes with square corners.
Now, why don't all shapes with pointer have adjustable pointer width?

What I have just discovered is that if I change the theme to 'Urban' I do have control over the pointer base width. None of the callouts in the 'Basic' theme, with the exception of the yellow outline, provide this.

I've never used the Urban callouts. And don't have the problem you report.

The 3 highlighted callouts do have grab handles for pointer width.

I wish there was an option to "always collapse pointer base" because I get to tried having to keep doing it manually, and then redoing it if I move or extend the callout

Okay, so not a bug???
I guess TechSmith wanted to offer a larger variety of callout styles, but make them more dysfunctional than the old style callouts?

SnagIt 11 had 4 common callouts that offered the width adjustment. But one of them was just a circle, added twice. The dark/black one appears to have no outline.Except its white, and doesn't show up in the window.

I don't like using them because they look like something designed for grade school children more than adults.
Urban is just another rendition of the same old callouts with a different color.

If they made them with gradients and text styles. Had a more professional look. I would be inclined to use them.

I've just switched to Urban Theme rather than the Basic, and the two shape points are present. What is the reason for not having these points in Basic Themed Callout?

I would still consider it a feature request, but obviously I have the option I looked for and I know how to find it now. Thanks to all who contributed!

You're absolutely right. I had never gone down the list of available call-outs before this week.
