Feature request: reorder tracks

In projects that have many tracks, it would be very helpful to be able to reorder how tracks are displayed vertically. (I am not talking here about the layering order with which effects are rendered in the video.) Sometimes it's difficult or impossible to view two tracks whose time relationships are critical if there are many tracks (perhaps not relevant to the edits I'm currently working on) in between them.

I have seen some suggestions along these lines from several years ago but evidently this has not been implemented yet.

Thanks.

You can currently move tracks vertically to any order you want! Were you asking for something different?

That's exactly what I'm asking for, but I haven't figured out how to do this (sorry if I'm being dense). I've tried grabbing and dragging the area where the track name is (at the left edge of the track), and also tried right-clicking there to look for a menu item like "Move up" or "Move down". I've also looked in the menubar menus but have not found how to do this. If it is indeed possible, please share how to do this. Thanks!

Oops...I was confusing Camtasia with another editor I use...major brain fart. Sorry for the error.

Here's what I do in Camtasia when I want to move tracks...move the content instead (video below)

This is not a very satisfactory work-around, but it works. You should absolutely only try this on a copy of your project file, in case something goes wrong.

Again, sorry for my error!

Or you can copy a track to the new position and then delete the unwanted track.

OK, thanks for the clarification and the demonstration.

For any Techsmith folks reading... although davemillman's workaround is doable, it's pretty cumbersome, and not really a good enough solution to dismiss the feature request as not worthwhile.

I agree... it should be possible to just click and drag the tracks to reorder them.

I would really appreciate this feature, and am surprised it's not available yet (unless we're missing something...)

Yes please. Have 20+ tracks and need to move them about as new content is added. Moving content is not a solution.
