Jing has some really usefull tools like http://bit.ly/XdXRMH but all of them are transparent. Screenshots very often contain private information you don't want others to see, a solid frame would be nice for blacking out private stuff. or maybe some kind of "rubber-tool" for whitening- or blacking-out thanks so far

Hey Oliver,

You should be able to accomplish this by using the highlighter tool, and changing the opacity to make it solid.

Also, Snagit has several tools that do this as well, and has a free 30 day trial for you to check out!

A blur tool was suggested by me over a year ago. They will not implement it, you will have to use a text box over the area you want hidden. They want you to use Snagit. I don't like Snagit, too much clutter and hard to navigate.

The highlighter even when the opacity is set to the highest, still shows your information. I have not found a way to make it "solid" even when using the slider to make it darker.

It would be so easy to do, but they won't. Jing cuts into Snagit's market share.

I am a Jing Pro user. I also have Snagit 11, and CS8, Screencast Pro. Been a Camtasia user since 1999.

This would be nice, I couldn't get the opacity to stick when setting a custom color on the highlighter tool.

I use the blur tool in Snag-It 3 (OS X) and 12 (Win) and it works well to obfuscate sensitive information.
