File location of profiles.

Snag-it 9, though we are licensed for use of up to v. 13. I would like to know where Snag-it custom profiles are located. I have tried to do an export of custom profiles, and see that the file type is: .snagprof, however I cannot find any .snagprof files on my computer or mapped drives. I ask because a user here has moved to new computer and I want to copy the profiles from her old machine to her new one. Where are they?

David, I am using v11.4.1 and when I try to export the profiles, I am given the choice of saving it whereever I want. The software directs to "My Documnets" folder.

Have you tried the following,

Built-in Backup/Restore: Backup the DataStore

  1. Open the Snagit Editor
  2. Browse to....

Snagit 13: File > Editor Preferences > Library tab
Snagit 12/11: File > Editor Options > Advanced tab
Snagit 10: Snagit button (top left corner) > Editor Options > Advanced tab

  3. Choose Backup/Restore Automatically Stored Files
  4. Select Backup to create an archive of the Unsaved captures in your Library
  5. Select a file name, which will have a .snagarchive extension and location, such as Desktop or My Documents.
Restore the Datastore
  1. Open the Snagit Editor
  2. Browse to....

Snagit 13: File > Editor Preferences > Library tab
Snagit 12/11: File > Editor Options > Advanced tab
Snagit 10: Snagit button (top left corner) > Editor Options > Advanced tab

  3. Choose Backup/Restore Automatically Stored Files
  4. Select Restore
  5. Navigate to where the .snagarchive you created is stored, then choose Open to restore the backed up Library.

A search of your PC should reveal the files due to the unique file extension.

Hopefully you will get the files back.

I'd like to thank CyrusMD as well for such a speedy and helpful response. We have sorted out the issue by learning that profiles are actually registry entries in older versions of Snag-it.
