Please add to the File menu a option to share and then let me select email, or other functions.

Hi there!

Snagit currently has a Share - Email option. You can find it in the Share menu as seen here:

Is this what you are currently looking for?

It would be helpful to know what product you are using.

When I do this, Snagit opens Thunderbird.  I want it to open Outlook instead.  How do I change the default?

As Rick has commented, I won't. Just know that you can't change the email program from within Snagit. I am pretty sure Ed means the 'Windows' setting.

I did that.  The Win 10 setting is for Outlook.  I set it again, to be sure.  It still opens Thunderbird instead of Outlook.

And I'd be willing to bet you see the same thing I do when you click Share, then the little gear icon and choose Share Preferences.

Note that my own email default is Thunderbird. And Thunderbird certainly opens when I choose to share, but that's what I'd want.

Since only Outlook is mentioned in the SnagIt dialog, it seems odd that it would open Thunderbird if your default email is Outlook.

I suspect Thunderbirds very existence overrides Outlook propitiatory settings.

It might be necessary to configure Thunderbird to use Outlook as its default.

Or uninstall it.Allowing Outlook to regain control?

Bare in mind,Thunderbird is a free and open sourced program. It's bound to have glitches. This may be one of them.

If you go into account settings. You can change defaults.

For quite some time, Outlook crashed SnagIt when I tried to share to E-mail.

My Windows setting are still configured to Outlook. With Thunderbird over riding this setting.

Eric, open Tbird and save an email to your desktop - it'll have an eml extension. Close Tbird.
In Windows, search for "Default Apps". What is listed as your default?  - now dbl-click the email you just saved. (1) What email client is default and (2) what opened you email.

I found the solution that works for me at:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1272177
Specifically, the Toad-Hall suggestion to change a registry entry.
It worked perfectly!
