Files missing in 2020

I have experienced this several times before, so I am very cautious not to change any file hierarchy (been using Camtasia for 4-5 years). But today my .cmproj came up with files missing. This is extemely inconvenient, because this is at least one working day lost. I follewed the instrucions in another post, to locate the temporary recordings in "user", but htey were only random recordings with no connections to the work of those days. Does any one  else experience this?  WIll I really have to do all the editing again?

I had this happen twice on Camtasia Mac 2020 today and yesterday. You just have to relink the original media and any edits do seem to update, but it's frustrating to say the least.

I've stopped using 2020 but I had this exact same problem yesterday in 2019 Mac when I switched to a different computer running on the same network and sharing the same files.  Even when I .zipped the project, files were still missing.

I just realised that the problem was about the files, not missing, but being unsupported. Opening more projects, there was the same problem. Starting a new project - files that has been accepted the last five years was unsupported. Shutting everything down and re-open - and there it is, like nothing ever happened. This is taking soooo much time. I have been doing everything support tells me to do, and yet - yesterday Camtasia "unexpectedly shut down" two times, in addition to the three times in one hour I had to force quit. Frustrating is only a very small beginning to explain how I am feeling now. Being in creative flow, having a whole day of batch shooting footage, and when you go on to editing, all the days flow feeling disappears in a moment..... Please, Camtasia - you will fix the bugs soon, right?

Yes, I had .mov files "unsupported" on one computer but not on the other.  I copied the files as .mp4's and the problem went away.  But it took time.

welcome to my world. My main job is customer education, I edit video every day for hours, the amount of spinning wheel and force quits on Camtasia Mac is crazy. Support have never been able to give me a definitive answer why it happens, despite logs supplied. As per my other post Cam Mac users paying the same as windows users feel like 2nd class customers. I feel your pain

In a weird way it is comforting to know that I am not alone (and crazy). Especially annoying to pay full price, and get a lesser version with so much trouble, and so little real response from support. Answers lie «we understand you, but sorry» is not particularly satisfying in the long run. But it is really sad. I love Camtasia, and have invested sooo much time and money, but I am really starting to wonder about sspending the time learning a better software instead.

Just a Note: This is a user forum. Sometimes TechSmith employees chime in. If you need support you should put in a Support Ticket on the TechSmith.com Site.

Yeah.  I've been using Camtasia Mac for years too.  When 2020 came out, I sent emails and screenshots to our customers to inform them that our captions will be changing to the new format.  As of today, I have to go back to the customers to tell them the "due to technical problems outside of our control", we will revert to the old format.
Basically, we are abandoning 2020, and all the templates we made, and have had to revert to 2019 as the Captions in 2020 simply do not work.
Techsmith customer support have "escalated the issue" but I have not heard anything in a while and we have 8 time-sensitive videos to release every Monday and Tuesday.
Not thrilled!

Oh no, this is really bad! I have had nothing but trouble since 2020 version, and would also consider returning to 2019, especially for easier and better captions. I have gotten a liong and understanding reply from suppoert, but I am still unable to understand why they changed a good feature for a bad.
