Fixing messed-up cpations

I'm in Cam9 on Windows 10. I determined that my captions at one point started being behind or before the text that they went with or really, that the audio was bigger than the caption. I watched a tutorial on captions and I might be able to fix this but to do so, I have to be able to see them. I have tried to move up and down the timeline vertically but I don't see the caption rectangles, even though i see the captions on the screen for editing. I tried, while on one caption, to add a new one right after it but all that did was add a caption at the end of all the captions..

Things got worse when I tried to merge captions in the hopes of getting the caption caught up with the words in it. That only made things worse. I know I can split a caption but first, I have to be able to see them and then I need to know how to make the caption show up when the words in the audio are the same. I haven't figured out how to do either of these. Displaying he captions on the timeline would be a good start. Instead, all I have done now is gotten my caption tjext showing up before the audio of the same words  It's too late to do an "undo.". I don't know what to do now. I'd appreciate any suggestions for how to fix this before I go any further. Thanks.

I believe they all appear on a single track. Are you able to share an image of your timeline showing as many tracks as possible?

Thanks, Rick. I figured it out. There is a blank track, I think, between the video and the captions.
