Forward capture automatically to the clipboard

Hi, with snagit2019, is there any possibility that the screenshot is automatically forwarded/copied to the clipboard without pressing any keys, mouse selections, spells etc.? :) That would be on of the greatest facilitations to me...

If you mean the screenshot as taken at the point of capture, you can configure the presets to do exactly that.

Once you start making edits, you have to press the Copy to clipboard button top right.

I have raised a feature request to copy the current image to clipboard after each edit, but it did not attract enough votes to be considered

hm, not sure if I understand "the screenshot as taken at the point of capture"...

I like to make a screenshot with snagit (picture), then it's in snagit's editor but not yet in the clipboard ... I think I like to have the same feature you requested ...
Maybe we can vote again??
:D

See image below.  if you set up a preset for an Image (A) and set it to say, a region (B), you have the option (c) to view it in the editor and/or (D) copy it to the clipboard.

Then, when you press PrtScn Snagit will do exactly that.  You could switch to a target document and paste the image straight in.

Or you could annotate and edit the screenshot in the editor.  When you do that, you need to press the button (E) called "Copy All," to put the edited version on the clipboard.  The feature request I raised was to perform that last step (E) automatically after each edit.

I hope that makes it clear?

The reason I asked for it is that despite using SnagIt 20 or so times a day for just over 17 years now, I still find myself forgetting to hit Copy All, and therefore pasting the unedited version of the image to my target.

It's what's termed an "unlearnable behaviour"

But I do take your point about how it might inconvenience users.  Be careful what you wish for eh? :)

This is only one of the many reasons I'm such a huge fan of the new-ish drag and drop from the recents tray to an app. feature You don't have to worry about clicking copy all because even the most recent change is included when you drag and drop.

And for what it's worth, I'm a person that regularly copies images and makes no edits to them afterwards. Generally speaking, I'm copying memes from the facebook to Pinterest or vice-versa. So if I were unaware of the drag and drop capability, I'd be finding a preset to accomplish the request quite useful.

And in thinking about that, what Paul offered totally solves the issue so it really isn't a request for a behavior change, is it?

Cheers... Rick :)

If you can disable the feature like you can in Windows Snip & Sketch. No harm no foul.

If you're doing this 20 times a day, this would probably save you several minutes over "X" amount of time.So its a worthy feature.

No Rick, drag and drop is not the same as auto-copy edits/changes to clipboard if thats what your suggesting. Paul's requesting a behaviour change. Auto-copy edits/changes to clipboard.

Oh, I use the drag and drop from the tray a LOT guys but you can't do it in all use cases.  Perhaps it's that that's reinforcing my failure to press Copy All in those cases where I can't use drag and drop.

I use a clipboard manager so, for me, the issue about losing something I'd copied to the clipboard would be an easy one to cope with

Hi Paul, thats exactly what I want to do!
Copy screenshot directly to clipboard (without editing). THX a lot, now it's working!
The other views and opinions are useful as well and worth to think about.

And you're right:  Be careful what you wish for!
;-)

THX all for helping me!

;-)
