Freeze the Play Head in the middle of the screen

It would be good if we could freeze the Play Head in the middle of the screen. The tracks would pass under the Play Head (see attachment). This would make editing easier ... and make zooming easier. ---------- I don't see a way to attach.

Hi there

Have you ever seen any software that is similar that behaves this way? I ask, because it seems to me that every type of video editing software I've seen to date behaves exactly as Camtasia does.

I'm curious as to how you believe it would make editing and zooming easier than it presently is. Can you expound on that aspect?

Note that I'm just another user same as you. I'm not affiliated with TechSmith.

Cheers... Rick :)

Under the current version, the Play Head jumps from the right side to the left side, quite often when zoomed in.

When the Play Head is on the right side, marking something from that position forward, does work ... by dragging / sliding forward ... which is annoying.

Vice-versa from the left side.

It would be easier, if the Play Head stayed in the center, as an option.

Adobe Audition does allow this option.

It would also be nice if the mouse wheel allowed us to zoom in / zoom out.

If you hold down the "Ctrl" button.

You can Zoom In and Out of the timeline using the scroll wheel on the mouse.

This idea has been posted a few times here in the forum.
If it ever happens is anybodies guess.

You can use the icons at the bottom of the post box to
hyperlink text, add a image or add a video to your post.

Click on the icon you want to add and follow the info. There are some limitations.

Camtasia used to behave that way, back when there wasn't multiple video tracks. kayakman and I discussed this in detail not that long ago.He said he would like that as an option again.

For myself personally.  Multiple tracks of media sliding by would give me a headache. That tiny playhead moving is not distracting at all.

When I'm editing video I want to concentrate on the canvas area, not chaos on the timeline.

It would be good if we were given the "option" of freezing the Play Head.  Then people could choose which they find most useful.
