Frequent Crashes - Camtasia Mac 2018

Camtasia is unstable crashes frequently.  almost unusable
I recently purchased Camtasia 2018 for Mac
When I add clip from a user defined library, the program crashes during playback
When there are movies over about 20 mins, it starts to run slowly.  Skips Frames during playback, stalls on fades - makes previewing unusable.

I am using a
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
4 GHz Intel Core i7
32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M390 2048 MB

I have over 1.25 TB in free hard drive space, all internal
and have reverted back to internal speakers and (gasp) internal microphone)

no difference - it is a festival of crashes

anyone have the same experience, or any ideas?

just trying to use the program as intended.

I'm so sorry to hear how poorly that's working for you. Generally Camtasia doesn't suffer from such instability- there must be something strange going on, on your mac. I think you'd be best served by opening a ticket with Support so they can get the crash dumps and diagnostics to see what's in conflict.

Are you running OS X 10.14 (Mojave)?  If so, 10.14.1 was released today, and if you upgrade it might help.  We were seeing some strange crashes in 10.14 that could not be reproduced in the beta versions of 10.14.1.

I am running Camtasia 2018 for Mac on High Sierra. Camtasia crashes after I open an existing file and try to interact with a caption. I can try interacting with it on the timeline or in the screen. It just keeps crashing. Is there a fix for this?

This is a shot in the dark, but can you check to see if you have the font 'Arial' installed on your system?  The 'Font Book' application will show you which fonts you have installed.

You should also submit a ticket with our support team.  https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I have Arial, and it was "Off." I enabled it, and that appears to have solved the problem. I opened the file that crashed so many times, and was able to interact with the captions in the timeline and in the screen. THANK YOU!

Do you still want me to submit a support ticket?

Thanks for trying that out, and I am glad I hear it solved your problem.  I now know how to fix it in general.

There is no need to submit a support ticket.

I have this same issue. 3 min video, and it freezes often. High Sierra, 10.13.6. I open, do a little editing, and it freezes. Camtasia does save the changes, which I appreciate. Arial is active.

I have the exact same problem too. It always crashes. Doesn't matter what version of Camtasia, or what version of Mac OS.

Frequent crashing is not normal. Just completed a project that did crash once (literally once), over four weeks. Relaunched and the saved data had all my changes (although I do tend to save every few minutes while working). Mac OSX 10.12.3, Camtasia 3.1.6

Aimee, I'm sorry if Support hasn't gotten back to you; we are in Michigan- there has been a significant winter storm, and temperatures are at record lows. When the governor declared a "state of emergency" we were forced to close for the day and may have gotten a little backed up in our support department.
