SO it's happening again today. I deleted several of them. Get satisfaction posts that are weeks to months old in my email. Many have never been responded to.Some have.
As the title suggests, this happens every 2 months or less.
It shouldn't.
It's a problem, I like getting notified of new assistance requests.
Most of the ones that are a month old, are probably irrelevant at this point.
It's irritating to receive these e-mails.
Suggested Solution.................. FIX IT
I Deleted several such e-mails already. I'm wondering how many will come before days end.

Hey Joe,
I don't think I've seen you complain about this before (or maybe I did and misunderstood). So you're getting notifications about threads that haven't had any updates or changes? Could you share a screenshot of the content of one of the "dead" emails?
Once you respond, I'm going to escalate to the service provider (Get Satisfaction).

I'm seeing similar this morning. Looks like perhaps some maintenance is being performed to better categorize things?

I say that because the messages often contains this:
The conversation "In the 7.1 version there was a "Tilt" option under the Zoom and Pan button (Advanced), which I cannot find in Camtasia Studio 8. ??? Ove" has been added to the category: Camtasia (Windows)

I had a couple like this this morning but nothing like your list. One was 4 days old and I had never seen the original (or I would have posted the fix) A lot of what I got today were motives of merged topics.

Yeah I get merged ones too, this is off the charts different

One fairly simple fix I did was to just create a mail rule in my email client that looks at the body of the message and scans for "has been added to the category" and moves the message directly to the trash.

A lot of people add to the comment and get it wrong. So I'm not sure that's the answer.

Here's an update on this. We know why it happened. One of my coworkers went through and added or corrected the categories for posts -- Camtasia Windows, Snagit Mac, etc. So what we learned, is that we didn't know that these changes would send a notification to anyone subscribed to the thread.
I think that Rick's solution is probably the best way to cope with this.
I'll probably open a suggestion with Get Satisfaction that they allow for more granular control over notifications. I don't know if it will go anywhere, but I can at least try (;

The thing that always scares me about delete filter is ... you might miss something important. Filtering to another folder then going through them quickly is a sit safer.
If I got an email with "has been added to the category" AND "Techsmith wants to give you $1 million ... I would sure hate to mnis it

Well thanks Glen, at least I know what going on.
I like keeping up on threads so option out is not an option.
Armed with the knowledge of what's going on, is good enough for me. You do things to yourself.lol

Here's the Idea I opened with Get Satisfaction if you want to jump onboard. I specifically referenced this thread, so they'll probably be looking back here for user stories.

Good move but it wants an account to view your link.
Thanks for being on this

I'm surprised you're not automatically logged in with the same account you're using here, but maybe it's different for me because I'm an admin.

That might be it. I just tried again and it won't let me in. See if any of the others have the same thing. See if the others are getting in.

I think it may be open only to employees of the companies who are using Get Satisfaction to power their forums, not to the members of those forums. I'm seeing this message at the top: "Thank you for visiting the Get Satisfaction Customer Community. Access
is only granted to current Get Satisfaction customers. Please ensure
that you are logging in using your employee account for your community.
" So, "customers" (such as Techsmith) rather than "users" (such as us).

No I've never complained about it before. It just got on my last nerve today. It doesn't happen that often so I just got accustomed to rolling with it.

This 4th link has a couple of responses. But last response was a month ago, which could mean several weeks past one month.

And there are varying degrees of other old responses.2 weeks ago,3 etc.
