I'm trying to import an MP4 file to a project and am getting the message: "It is either an unsupported media type or required codecs are not found." But it plays fine everywhere else. What do I need to do? Thanks

Perhaps try transcoding the video using the popular free program known as Handbrake?

Click here to view the Handbrake site where you may download Handbrake

Cheers... Rick :)

You need to re-encode it.
Mp4's are a container format. They can host a wide variety of codecs.

Handbrake is a free application that uses codecs most applications recognize and work well with.https://handbrake.fr/

Change extension form .mp4 to .m4a This worked for ME!
Or, install quicktime codecs only. When you run quicktime installer deselect the app and just choose codecs.
*Mov file are iffy and so many dang encoders for so many file types and compressions (should be one or two and open source). Camtasia should have an online or installed batch encoder to assist. SO, try changing extensions you may get lucky. .mp4, .m4a. mov, .mpeg, .mpeg4 etc. or do an online encoder!
